Return and Refund Policy


1. Scope and Intent

This Return and Refund Policy applies to all purchases made through the Grid Habitat website at gridhabitat.com (“Website”). By purchasing from Grid Habitat, you acknowledge and agree to the terms below.

3. Return Eligibility

Customers in the United States may request a return within 30 days of receiving the product, provided the conditions below are met.

3.1 Conditions for Return

  • Unused and Undamaged: Item must be unused, uninstalled, and in the same condition received.

  • Original Packaging: All original boxes, foam inserts, accessories, hardware, manuals, and packaging materials must be included.

  • Proof of Purchase: Order number or sales receipt required.

  • No Installation: Products that have been wired, mounted, connected, activated, or used in any capacity are not eligible for return unless defective.


4. Freight Delivery Requirements (Important)

Many Grid Habitat products ship via freight due to size and weight. To ensure returns and damage claims are honored:

4.1 Inspection at Delivery

Customers must inspect freight shipments at the time of delivery. This includes checking for:

  • exterior box/pallet damage

  • crushed corners

  • punctures or forklift damage

  • water damage

  • broken shrink wrap

4.2 Delivery Receipt Notation

If damage is visible, you MUST:

  • note the damage on the delivery receipt, and

  • have the driver acknowledge it before signing.

Failure to note damage may void the ability to file a freight claim, which may limit refund or replacement options.

4.3 Concealed Damage

If damage is discovered after unboxing:

  • Notify Grid Habitat within 48 hours with photos and video.

  • Concealed damage claims submitted after 48 hours may not be eligible under carrier rules.


5. Return Process

5.1 Initiating a Return

Provide:

  • your order number

  • reason for return

  • photos of product/packaging if applicable

If approved, we will issue:

  • Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number

  • prepaid return shipping label

  • freight pickup instructions (if applicable)

5.2 Preparing Your Return

  • Repack securely in original packaging.

  • Include all accessories, cables, hardware, manuals, and promotional items.

  • Include RMA form inside the package.

  • Attach the prepaid label or follow freight carrier instructions.

5.3 Return Shipping Deadline

Items must be shipped or made available for pickup within 5 days of receiving RMA approval.


6. Return Shipping Costs

Return shipping is covered by Grid Habitat for all eligible returns.


7. Specific Return and Refund Conditions

7.1 Change-of-Mind Returns

Eligible within 30 days of delivery if the product is unused, uninstalled, and in original packaging.

Refund:
Original payment method minus a 25% restocking fee.

Restocking fee does NOT apply to defective, damaged, or incorrect shipments.


7.2 Defective or Damaged Goods

  • Must be reported within 48 hours of delivery.

  • Provide clear photos or video documentation.

  • After verification, we will offer a replacement or a full refund, including shipping.


7.3 Incorrect Product Received

Notify us immediately.
Grid Habitat will arrange return shipping at no cost and send the correct product.


7.4 Product Never Arrived

Contact us if the carrier estimate has passed.
If confirmed lost after investigation, we will issue a replacement or refund.


7.5 Order Cancellation

  • Before shipment: Eligible for a full refund.

  • After shipment: Follow standard return process after delivery.


8. Non-Returnable Items

The following cannot be returned or refunded unless defective:

  • Custom or personalized items

  • Perishable goods

  • Intimate or sanitary products (unless unopened)

  • Installed or used items

  • Gift cards

  • Downloadable software or digital goods


9. Warranty Claims (Manufacturer-Backed)

Most high-ticket power products (solar generators, inverters, controllers, LFP batteries, etc.) are covered by manufacturer warranties.

Warranty claims are processed directly with the manufacturer.
Grid Habitat will assist in facilitating contact but does not approve or deny warranty decisions.


10. Refunds

10.1 Refund Approval

Refunds are issued once the product is returned, inspected, and verified eligible.

10.2 Refund Processing Time

Refunds are processed to the original payment method.
Allow up to 14 days for your financial institution to complete the posting.

10.3 Partial Refunds may be issued if:

  • items show signs of use

  • returned products are damaged

  • components or accessories are missing

  • packaging is not original or is significantly damaged

  • the item is returned after the 30-day window

Costs for missing or damaged components may be deducted from the refund.


11. Exchanges

We replace defective, damaged, or incorrect products at no cost.

12. Abuse, Fraud, and Repeated Returns Protection

Grid Habitat reserves the right to refuse returns, refunds, or exchanges for:

  • excessive return frequency

  • suspected fraud

  • abuse of the return process

  • returns inconsistent with policy conditions

This maintains fair pricing and service for all customers.


13. Timelines Overview

  • Return request window: 30 days

  • Freight damage reporting: 48 hours

  • Return shipment deadline: 5 days after RMA

  • Refund processing: within 14 days after inspection

  • Refund visibility: up to 14 days after processing

Nothing in this policy limits rights granted by applicable U.S. consumer protection laws.
